专利说明:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] The present invention relates to connectors for medical lines, for example, infusion lines and transfusion lines, of the type comprising a tubular body that has at one end a male connector, for example, of the luer lock type or similar, which includes an internal tubular element and an external hollow element, which is internally threaded and can be attached by screwing it to a complementary female connector. TECHNICAL STATUS [0002] In connectors of the type defined above, since the male connector is coupled and screwed into the complementary female connector there is a risk that the two connectors could become unscrewed and separate or accidentally or due to a false maneuver, which evidently generates fluid leaks and risks of more critical consequences for the patient to which the connector is connected in use. [0003] In an attempt to solve this problem it was proposed in US-5,702,374 to make the external hollow element internally threaded of the rotating male connector with respect to the internal tubular element, and to provide between them a toothed ring for a very rotating lock. [0004] If on the one hand this solution makes the line connector safer with respect to any accidental unscrewing of the male connector of the female connector, for example, due to the yield of the plastic material from which they are made or to the phenomenon of fatigue, this it is generally inefficient in the case of a wrong voluntary unscrewing maneuver. [0005] Document EP-1747797A1, deposited in the name of the present applicant, describes a medical connector equipped with a double unidirectional coupling associated with a female luer lock connector, which operates in the direction of screwing with respect to a complementary male connector in a first axial position and in the opposite direction of unscrewing in a second axial position of the line connector. This unidirectional system is integrated in the line connector and requires, in order to pass from the first position to the second position, an axial translation of the female connector with respect to a rigidly fixed collar in the body of the line connector, against the action of an elastic body o which is housed within the connector body. [0006] From US-2008/172039 a connector of the type defined above is known, which corresponds to the preamble of claim 1, that is, one that further includes an external operating sleeve coupled in unidirectional rotation to a male luer lock connector. in the direction of screwing. The arrangement is such that once the male connector of the line connector has been screwed into the complementary female connector it can no longer be unscrewed, not even voluntarily. The installation of the sleeve over the body of the line connector is problematic and, in the installed condition, said sleeve is unstable both radially and axially. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0007] The object of the present invention is thus to solve the aforementioned technical problem, and more specifically to make the line connector in general safe from any erroneous unscrewing of the male connector in relation to the complementary female connector, without the aforementioned disadvantages. [0008] According to the invention, the above object is achieved thanks to the fact that the aforementioned external operating sleeve is free to rotate in the opposite direction (that is, in the direction of unscrewing the line connector) and is formed by two parts coupled together on the body of the line connector. [0009] Thanks to this arrangement, the operating sleeve can be applied in a simple and precise way to the line connector, substantially without any undesirable radial or axial play, and ensures maximum safety against the risk of any accidental or erroneous unscrewing of the line connector. [00010] Conveniently, the external hollow element of the male connector has an outer ring gear, which cooperates with a ring of unidirectional claw teeth provided within the outer sleeve mentioned above. [00011] The invention provides for two different modalities, in the first of which the outer sleeve is formed by two axial portions coupled together, and in the second of which the said sleeve includes two radial wrapping means, which are also coupled together. In any case, the coupling is preferably, although not necessarily, obtained through mutually engaging action coupling members. [00012] The tubular body of the line connector and the external sleeve can furthermore be mutually displaced axially between a first position in which they are coupled together in unidirectional rotation in the direction of screwing in the male connector and a second position in which the external sleeve it is coupled in rotation with the body of the line connector in the direction that corresponds to the unscrewing of the male connector. This allows in use a voluntary interruption of the flow line between the line connector and the patient only if the operator is fully aware that he intends to unscrew the male connector from the female connector. [00013] The invention finds a specifically advantageous, but not exclusive application in the case of valve connectors manufactured and marketed by the present applicant under the brand name "B-SITE®", which form the subject among other things of the US- 7784766, US-8048038 and US-2009/292274. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS [00014] The invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, which are provided purely as a non-limiting example and in which: Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of a connector for medium lines according to a first embodiment of the invention; Figure 2 is an elevation view of the connector of Figure 1; Figure 3 is an axial sectional view according to line III-III of Figure 2; Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view according to line IV-IV of Figure 2; Figure 5 is an exploded view on a larger scale of the connector of Figure 1; Figure 6 is a front elevation of a second embodiment of the line connector according to the invention; Figure 7 is a side elevation of the line connector in Figure 6; Figure 8 is an axial sectional view according to the line VIII-VIII of Figure 7; Figure 9 is a cross-sectional view according to line IX-IX of Figure 7; Figure 10 is a cross-sectional view according to line X-X in Figure 7; Figure 11 is an axial sectional view according to line XI-XI of Figure 6; Figure 12 is an exploded perspective view over the line connector of Figure 7; and Figure 13 is an exploded perspective view below the line connector of Figure 7. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [00015] The two examples of embodiments of the invention that will be described hereinafter expressly refer to a valve connector for medical infusion lines, transfusion lines, and the like of the type that corresponds to those described and illustrated in the referenced patent documents above deposited in the name of the present applicant. It should, however, be noted that the invention is likewise applicable to any medical line connector equipped with a male connector, typically of the luer lock type or similar, which can be coupled to a complementary female connector of a conventional type, which is also of the luer lock type or similar, which, as is well known to the person skilled in the art, basically consists of a tubular element provided with an external end thread. [00016] With initial reference to Figures 1 to 5, designated as a whole by 1 is a valve connector for medical lines which comprises, in a way per se known, for example, from the patent number US-8,048,038 already cited, a tubular body 2 made of molded plastic material, coaxially mounted within which are a hollow pin 3 and an elastic sealing member 4 having a pre-slotted elastic head 5 normally mounted in a closed condition within an inlet end 6 tubular body 2, formed by a female luer lock connector. The hollow pin 3 forms at one end a closed terminal 7 that faces the elastic head 5 and normally mounted at an axial distance from it, and at the opposite end a male luer lock connector 8 constituted, in a way also known by you, by a inner tubular element 9 with a tapered outer surface communicating with the hollow pin 3 and an internally threaded hollow outer element 10. In use, the male luer lock connector 8 is screwed into a complementary female luer lock connector, and then a fluid introducer is coupled to the inlet connector 6 in order to press the sealing member 4 axially against the action of a hollow elastic element 11 formed integrally with it, in the direction of the terminal 7 in order to get the pre- slotted 5 assume an elastically deformed opening condition and thus allow the passage of fluid from the introducer to the male luer lock connector 8. [00017] According to the peculiar characteristic of the invention, the line connector still comprises an external operating sleeve, designated as a whole by 12, which is coupled in unidirectional rotation in the body 2 in the direction that corresponds to the screwing of the connector. male luer lock 8 on the complementary female luer lock connector, and is free to rotate in the opposite direction. [00018] The outer sleeve 12 extends axially, starting from the female luer lock connector 6, until it completely covers the external hollow element 10 of the male luer lock connector 8 and, in the case described here with reference to Figures 1 and 5, is formed by two axial portions 13, 14, which are also conveniently made of molded plastic material. The axial portion 13 has a series of elastically wedged end legs 15 formed with respective coupling teeth 16, and the portion 14 consists of a ring that surrounds the outer hollow element 10 of the male luer lock connector 8 and is formed externally with parts claw 17 for a toothed action coupling 16 when the two parts 13, 14 are mounted axially in mutually opposite directions on the body 2. [00019] The ring constituting the portion 14 is further formed internally with a ring of teeth 18 elastically loosened (more clearly visible in Figure 4), with which a ring of teeth 19 formed on the outside of the hollow element 10 of the connector luer male 8 lock cooperates. The arrangement of teeth 18 and 19 is such that, as previously explained, the outer sleeve 12 formed by the portions 13 and 14 is coupled in unidirectional rotation in the body 2 of the line connector only in the direction that corresponds to the screwing of the luer lock connector. male 8. In the opposite direction, the teeth 18 of the portion 14 spring elastically over the teeth 19 of the hollow element 10, thus allowing a free rotation of the outer sleeve 12 with respect to the body 2 of the line connector 1. Thus, since the male luer lock connector 8 is coupled by screwing on the complementary female luer lock connector, this is prevented from unscrewing. [00020] The variant illustrated in Figures 6 to 13, in which the parts that are identical or similar to those previously described are designated by the same reference numbers, differs from the first modality basically with respect to two aspects: the external maneuver sleeve, designated as a whole by 22, it is formed by two radial wrapping means 23, 24 and is mounted on the body 2 of the line connector 1 in an axially slidable mode between a first position, in which the sleeve 22 is coupled in unidirectional rotation in the body 2 of the line connector 1 in the direction corresponding to the screwing of the male luer lock connector 8 in the complementary female luer lock connector, and a second position in which said sleeve 22 is coupled in rotation to the body 2 in the opposite direction, that is that is, in the direction that corresponds to the unscrewing of the male luer lock connector 8. [00021] In detail, the two wrapping means 23, 24 (which are identical in shape and can therefore be obtained with a single die) also extend practically across the entire axial extension of body 2 of the line connector starting from the connector of the female luer lock 6 so as to surround the entire external hollow element 10 of the male luer lock connector 8 at the bottom. The two wrapping means 23, 24 are formed with respective wedged legs 25 designed to engage by fitting action within openings 26 corresponding to form the glove 22, and each of these is further formed internally with respective elastically wettable teeth 27, altogether similar to the teeth 18 of the previous modality, which are designed to operate in the same way with the outer teeth ring 19 of the hollow outer element 10 of the male luer lock connector 8. In other words the teeth 27 couple the sleeve 22 torsionally in the body 2 of the line connector 1 in the direction corresponding to the ap screwing in the male luer lock connector 8, while the rotation of the sleeve 22 with respect to the body 2 is free in the opposite direction thanks to the teeth 27 jumping over the teeth 19. [00022] As previously provided, sleeve 22 is even more axially displaceable with respect to body 2 by a limited path, starting from the position in which teeth 27 are axially mounted in a position corresponding to teeth 19, in the direction of a position unstable in which coupling between teeth 27 and teeth 19 is no longer possible while sleeve 22 torsionally engages body 2 of line connector 1 in the direction corresponding to unscrewing the male luer lock connector 8 of the female luer lock connector complementary. Said torsional coupling is implemented, in the second axial position, as a result of coupling between additional rings of outer teeth 28 and inner teeth 29, respectively, of the body 2 and the wrapping means 23, 24 of the sleeve 22. The teeth 28 and 29 are illustrated in greater detail in Figure 11. [00023] As mentioned, the second position that corresponds to the coupling between teeth 28 and 29 is unstable due to the fact that it is counteracted by a pair of elastically softened appendages 30 formed integrally with the respective wrapping means 23, 24 and coupled with corresponding recesses 31 of the body 2 of the line connector 1. When the sleeve 22 moved in the second axial position is released, the appendages 30 bring it back to the first position, thus obtaining the uncoupling between teeth 28 and 29 and restoring the coupling between teeth 27 and 19. [00024] As already noted, the invention is advantageously applicable not only to valve connector 1 shown in the drawings but to any medical connector equipped with a male connector of the luer lock type or similar types, which have a tubular element with a conical outer surface that can be coupled with a female connector of a similar type (not necessarily a luer lock connector). Obviously, also the other end of the line connector, that is, the one opposite the male connector, can be of any type, for example, formed by a simple duct applied even permanently to the body of the line connector. [00025] Of course, the details of construction and the modalities can vary widely with respect to what has been described and illustrated herein, without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention as defined in the following claims. [00026] Specifically, the male connector of the line connector, instead of being of the luer lock type, can be of any different type equipped with an internal tubular element with a conical external surface. Furthermore, the union between the two axial portions 13, 14 or between the two radial wrapping means 23, 24 can be achieved, instead of through fitting action couplings, with a different system, as in the same way the elastic system which tends to keep the outer sleeve and the body of the line connector in the position of mutual unidirectional coupling in the direction of screwing may be different.
